Erica MacDonald is a painter and designer based in Tennessee. Her art is inspired by nature, color, and her love of patterns. Besides her home state, influences on her visual aesthetic include the creative cultures of Louisiana and Texas. She is married to an artist. Their young adult twins are creatives too.                

Artist Statement

My work as an artist is an exploration of the beauty of the natural world and patterns. I'm fascinated by texture, color, and contrast.

My creative process often starts with my camera by taking nature reference photos. Back in the studio, I work with a variety of traditional painting mediums like watercolor, gouache, and acrylics as well as digital media to create art.

The focus of my work is to capture the feeling and energy of a subject, not a realistic representation. I hope people who view my art experience a sense of joy and energy through my paintings and patterns. In 2025, I am focused on painting new originals and creating prints for products.
