The Story Behind Pattern Play

The Pattern Play Collection is inspired by my quilting roots and pays homage to my talented grandmother, (MawMaw). She introduced me to core design principles at a young age through the process of "pattern play" and quilting. I found these concepts so enthralling that they were deeply embedded in my psyche.

In Pattern Play, I use only one hand-drawn motif- a set of three curved lines to create five distinct patterns to highlight these design principles. Throughout the collection, you find:

  • Implied Lines

  • Value & Contrast

  • Hidden Pattern

  • Repetition

  • Selective Use of Color

  • Scale

  • Movement

Ultimately, quilting design principles, the beauty of minimalism, and my grandmother’s love are at the heart of Pattern Play. I hope you love it as much as she would have.
